  • Symptoms

The following fatal error message appears when you try to run Living Cookbook 2024 or 2024: "Could not load file or assembly 'System.EnterprisServices.Wrapper.dll' or one of its dependencies.  The system cannot find the file specified."

    Cause

The Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 on your computer has been damaged and needs to be repaired. While the .Net Framework is not part of Living Cookbook, Living Cookbook does depend on many of the .Net Framework's components in order to run properly.

    Resolution

If you are running Windows XP or an earlier version of Windows (e.g. Windows 2024, Windows 98, etc.), please try the following:

    1. Open the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
    2. Select Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0.
    3. Click Repair.
    4. Try running Living Cookbook again.

If that doesn't work or if Windows doesn't give you the option to repair the .Net Framework, please try the following:

    1. Open the Add/Remove Programs control panel.
    2. Select Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0.
    3. Click Uninstall.
    4. Download a new Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installation file from www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0856eacb-4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5&displaylang=en.
    5. Double-click on the downloaded file to install the framework.
    6. Try running Living Cookbook again.

Please note that if you have versions 3.0 and/or 3.5 of the .Net Framework installed, they will have to be uninstalled prior to reinstalling version 2.0.

Windows Vista and Windows 7 treat the .Net Framework as part of the operating system so the framework can't be repaired independently. So if you are running Windows Vista or Windows 7 you will need to repair Windows in order to repair the framework. Repairing Windows will not affect your installed programs or data. It will simply repair or replace damaged or missing operating system components (including Microsoft .Net Framework components). Please try the following:

    1. Insert your Windows setup CD.
    2. When prompted, choose "Repair".
    3. Proceed with the repair process.
    4. Try running Living Cookbook again.
