KB004 - Error connecting to the MSXML object

Symptoms

The following error message appears when you run Living Cookbook 2005 after installing or upgrading a Norton product:

Class: nfc_n_cst_msxml
Message: Error connecting to the MSXML object.

Cause

The problem is caused by a Norton product update. You probably have Norton anti-virus or another Norton product installed on your computer. Norton has damaged a Windows component (MSXML) that Living Cookbook needs in order to run. The same problem prevents Intuit's QuickBooks from running.

Resolution

1. Click here to download the msxml.msi file from Microsoft. Save the file to your desktop.
2. Once the file has been saved, open the Windows Run window:
   
   Windows Vista: Click the Microsoft Windows Vista logo (Start button). In the Start Search field, type Run
   
   Windows XP: Click the Windows Start button and select Run.
    
3. In the Open field, type msiexec.exe /fvaum "%userprofile%\Desktop\msxml.msi" and click OK.
4. When installation has completed, click OK.
5. Try running Living Cookbook 2005 again.
