KB002 - Living Cookbook 2024 Reverts to Trial Mode After Running McAfee Virus Scan

Symptoms
When you run Living Cookbook 2024 after running McAfee Virus Scan Living Cookbook reverts to trial mode.
Cause
McAfee mistakenly associates Living Cookbook's license keys in the Windows registry with a program called AtomicLog. When McAfee tries to remove AtomicLog it removes Living Cookbook's license information too. Living Cookbook is otherwise unaffected.
Steps To Reproduce
- Run and register Living Cookbook 2024.
- Close Living Cookbook 2024.
- Update McAfee to the latest version.
- Run McAfee Virus Scan.
- Run Living Cookbook 2024.
Workaround
There is one known workaround:
- Re-register Living Cookbook each time McAfee deletes the Living Cookbook's license information.
Resolution
There are two ways to resolve this issue:
- Configure McAfee such that it considers Living Cookbook's registry entries safe. You can do this by removing them from McAfee's quarantine folder after running the virus scan.
