Wonderful Date Nut Bread
 
2 cups   chopped dates  
1 cup   hot water  
2/3 cup   brown sugar, packed  
1/2 cup   honey  
2 Tbs   butter  
1   egg, beaten  
2 tsp   vanilla  
2 cups   flour  
1 tsp   baking soda  
1/2 tsp   salt  
1 cup   chopped walnuts  
 
 
1 In mixing bowl, combine dates, water, sugar, honey and butter; let stand 15 minutes.
2 Stir in egg and vanilla.
3 Sift together flour, soda and salt; stir into batter with the nuts. Pour into greased 9 x 5 inch loaf pan.
4 Bake in 325°F over 50 to 60 minutes, wooden pick inserted into center comes out clean.
5 Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Slide onto cooling rack to cool completely.
 
Servings: 6
Yield: 1 Loaf
 
Cooking Tips
Wrapped air tight and stored in a cool, dry place, this bread will keep up to 1 week. Freeze for longer storage
